"Time is my only enemy." - M Baber

November 27, 2007

The challenge is moving a well established local print provider from a successful 20th century company to a 21st century company.

Below is some thinking about one possible different approach.

Reaction to sketch of approach:

I really like this. You don't know how close it is to what we've been trying to say. I'm forwarding to our ad hoc marketing committee. Thanks Michael.

More evidence that it is no longer about new ideas, just making the time to implement the old ones.

Loyalty Programs

A loyal customer is worth 10 times more than the cost of acquiring new customers. Yet, most companies spend a majority of their advertising budgets on mass media advertising to merely enhance their image and possibly capture new customers. BABER’s successful loyalty building programs guide you through a process of identifying, selecting, communicating and evaluating your most valuable asset; your customers. Industry specific one-to-one loyalty programs give you unlimited power to keep good customers loyal through targeted, customer specific offers that are relevant to their individual spending habits.

With over 60 years in business, we have the track record and capabilities to make your next printing job run flawlessly. Whether it's a newsletter, a manual, catalogs, flyers or more, we offer complete printing services, copywriting, design, photography, illustration, typesetting, printing, bindery, warehousing and distribution.

The more we do, the less you have to worry about. We provide the technology. The expertise. And the attentive service. No matter if it's one color or four color, one page or many pages, runs of a few thousand to 100,000 plus, BABER delivers the printed page. When you need it. Just the way you like it. At a cost you can afford. It's enough to make you sit up and take notice.

State of the art information management enhances our extensive warehousing and fulfillment services. Our picking and pulling is highly customized and accurate. We pick up responses, compile databases, and determine when to reorder. In fact, we'll handle all customer inquiries so you won't have to worry about getting all tangled up in the process.

Leveraging Baber's unique values

Who's who...maybe there is another way to do it...

Use Survey Monkey to get the data... No phone calls.

Create a pull by advertising the information for free on the website.

Maybe sell ads. Maybe sell the printed version. Maybe vendor sub directories for a particular service.

I'm guessing there are lots of people in the B2B space who might come to your website to get the contact info.

read for free online. Offer the print version for $$$$

The Newsletter could be very valuable..

read for free online... pay for print. Or deliver hard copy to most valuable customers or prospects.

You might also consider turning it into a customer blog. Get them involved in the conversation.

Everyone loves publications that allow them to read their own words.

The Marketing Postcard audio is very good.

Maybe you should consider doing a graphic slide show thing and posting on youtube, then incoporating into the site.

Something like this:

Print for Profits Part 2

Print for Profits Part 3

Our business grows when your business grows.

Every business grows in a healthy community.

Since printing was invented in the 15th century, printing houses have been at the center of community conversations.  Those conversations made people smarter. Smart people can solve hard problems.  As we make our business services better and better, we are also continuing  that 500 year old tradition in our community. We've lived and worked in Memphis for 60 years. The plan is to be here for at least another 60.

I've been using the concept of a Pub Center as an organizining concept for this approach. Click on the Pub Center tab to see what I mean. MJ
